St Nicholas Des Eaux is a small village alongside a river approximately 15-20 minutes from the cottage. It is a beautiful area for walks and there are plenty of picnic tables and areas along the river as well as boat hire and some bars/cafes and restaurants. There is a "Creperie" and also the restaurant and hotel "Hotel Vieux Moulin" which we have frequented over the years.

For a pleasant walk you can walk down either side of the river, on the one side is a path, the other a quiet road/lane and eventually both lead to a railway bridge which you can climb up on and use to cross the river to the other side to walk back. The line is seldom used if at all and you will see many other people crossing or walking on it so dont worry too much!

After the walk there are some Bars and Cafes to relax by the riverside, the Cafe closest the bridge does do a lovely Espresso!

To get to St Nicholas, leave the Cottage and drive to Guern. Follow the road around to the right of the Church and this eventually leads to St Nicholas.
